FEED Engineering

FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) is a critical phase in the development of an FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) project. It sets the groundwork for the Detailed Engineering phase, ensuring cost-effective, efficient, and safe project execution.

The OFS India’s involvement in the FEED phase will typically address the following:

Scope Definition

Establish the technical and functional requirements for topside modules.

Concept Selection

Evaluate process configurations, module layout, and integration with the hull.

Preliminary Engineering

Provide design basis, equipment sizing, and major specifications.

Cost and Schedule Estimation

Produce reliable estimates for project budgeting and timelines.

Risk Assessment

Identify potential challenges in fabrication, integration, and operation.

Key FEED Deliverables for Topside Detailed Engineering

The outcome from the FEED phase will provide the basis for the subsequent Detailed Engineering work:
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Equipment Specifications: Preliminary data sheets for separators, heat exchangers, compressors, etc.
Structural Design Concepts: Layout and weight distribution for topside modules.
Electrical and Instrumentation Requirements: Initial design of power distribution and control systems.
Safety Studies: HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL assessments to define safety features.
3D Models: Conceptual models for space allocation and design visualization.
Material Take-Offs (MTO): High-level lists for piping, structural steel, and other materials.
