Detailed Engineering

Detailed engineering for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) topside modules is a highly specialized process that transforms the conceptual and preliminary designs developed during FEED into fully detailed, construction-ready designs.

The topsides of an FPSO are where the primary production and processing activities occur, requiring meticulous design for efficiency, safety, and functionality in offshore environments.

The Detailed Engineering scope which will be engineered by OFS India is as follows:

  • Develop P6 schedule up to Level 4 for all deliverables and milestones as listed as per project requirements, and create a MDR in line with the Level 4 schedule. This list shall indicate the documents that are to be generated during detailed engineering using FEED Engineering deliverables as inputs.
  •
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documents in sufficient detail without any hold, including incorporation of vendor data to construct and assemble the topsides facilities, perform pre-commissioning, initial start-up, and make ready for long-term operation and maintenance.
  •
  • Define interfaces and integrate them with applicable systems and subsystems during detailed engineering.
  • Ensure the design complies with the Human Factors Engineering.
  •
  • Interface with the Marine and Mooring disciplines, as well as third-party suppliers and other subcontractors & various fabrication yards.
  •
  • Carry out detailed engineering of piping, structural, electrical, and instrument disciplines based on basic design documents, philosophies, and specifications.
  •
  • Review and incorporate third-party supplier documents/details for compliance with Project requirements and for interface-related design requirements.

Key deliverables as part of Detailed Engineering includes:

  • General Arrangement (GA) Drawings: Layouts of modules, equipment, and access routes
  •
  • Isometric Drawings: Detailed fabrication drawings for piping systems
  •
  • Structural Drawings: Construction-ready designs for module frames and supports
  •
  •  Electrical Layouts: Cable routing, single-line diagrams, and lighting layouts
  •
  • Instrument Hook-Up Diagrams: Detailed wiring and tubing layouts
  •
  • Material Take-Offs (MTO): Comprehensive lists for procurement of materials and equipment
  •
  • Safety Reports: HSE compliance documents, including blast analysis and escape route plans
